Vitalik Buterin Contributes $15M USDC Towards Airborne Diseases ResearchAltcoin News

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, has contributed $15 million USDC from the Balvi Philanthropic Fund. This is towards the University of California, San Diego, to fund studies into airborne diseases. This grant is said to be the largest ever contributed to open-source research on aerosols. And one of the largest given to a university in the United States.

Funds will be utilized to create the Meta-Institute for Airborne Disease in a Changing Environment. Or the Airborne Institute, at the University of California, San Diego. The study group will be headed by Prather and Rommie Amaro. A professor and the director of the National Biomedical Computation Resource at UC San Diego, respectively.

In May 2022, the Shiba Inu community and the Indian emergency relief foundation CryptoRelief collaborated to create the Balvi Philanthropic Fund to support research into COVID-19. Since its inception, the Balvi fund has made two contributions totaling more than $15 million to more than 10 initiatives studying coronaviruses.

Moreover, The University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia received the biggest award of $5.3 million. In order to develop a method to detect viral epidemics early. Long Covid, an illness brought on by the COVID-19 virus that causes long-term immune suppression and other health problems, is the focus of a $15 million contribution spearheaded by the fund.
